Trying to Grow Plants

I am not good at keeping plants alive.  I don't know what it is, but I just can't seem to keep them green!  This is my last attempt earlier this year.  Unfortunately, they didn't even last for two months.  Any suggestions on what I can try to grow?  I was thinking of just switching to plastic.

Orchids

For my birthday last month, Jesse had flowers delivered to my office. They were beautiful purple orchids, so of course I had to take some photos.  I even got out my macro lens to take them.
